...When our superior...told you to leave the training since it's SAFD only, you kept questioning the order and refusing to leave...
I would sure love to know as to why Volunteers are being disallowed from joining our trainings when the academy information is planned to be public anyway. There is nothing that should be being hidden from them in that respect...

As the title says, there is more than one eye watching, and it isn't just one more person, either.

Today I did a brief check on the servers across the community. I am both upset and pleased. It seems some servers are doing quite well, while others are lacking heavily.

To the leaders, players, and Volunteers working in our great country to protect it from the raging inferno, it is time to step it up! If you see someone in need of help, you should be jumping right in and showing them the ropes! If you see someone breaking protocols, and they refuse to change their attitudes on them after being instructed otherwise, report them! Work together and have fun out there...but most of all, stay safe!

News And Announcements / Many New Command Faces
December 15, 2013, 10:02:26 PM
As of recently, many of you are aware that there have been several changes in command throughout the Argonath RPG Fire Department. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce two of them!

Beginning November 27th, 2013, PulseEffect was promoted to SA:MP's new Battalion Chief!

Beginning December 15th, 2013, Marcus Chaplin was promoted to MTA:SA's new Battalion Chief!

These new changes mean many things, but most importantly, leadership. These two will be tasked with handling their own respective servers' Fire Department operations and structure, and will be reporting to the ARFD Commissioner directly. This means that each server will have its own direct leader watching over it, all the while the ARFD Commissioner position continues to handle things on a global scale.

Please welcome these two with open arms, as they have more than proven time and again that they are capable of making this awesome group that much more stronger!

General Discussion / Seven Years Strong!
July 27, 2013, 10:53:06 PM
That's right boys and girls! In a few hours, Argonath RPG will be a seven-year-strong world of it's own!

Are you ready to celebrate? We are! :ff:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARGONATH RPG!!!
#6
As per executive statement by President Gandalf of the United States Of Argonath, new changes have arisen in the Emergency Services which now allow those misusing the job to be properly handled.

From this day forward, Command Staff of the ARFD and it's Divisions, (specifically those who have power in the server they are in), are now allowed to deal with Firefighters neglecting their duties through the focus of other things unrelated to their job. This includes producing and obtaining legal drugs while on duty, which is considered negligence as they are taking the time to deal with personal situations that may lead to a longer response time should an emergency arise. As a result, ARPD Command Staff and it's Divisions, (specifically those who have power in the server they are in), may also deal with rogue Police Officers submitting to the same situations. These rights extend down to ARFD Volunteer Firefighters and ARPD Officers through their respective Command Staffs, and may be exercised through the following method:

1. An explanation to the member in question as to why what they are doing is considered negligence of duty, and how it can be an issue.
2. A request from the member in question if they understand said explanation, regardless of whether they agree with it or not.
3. If said member in question agrees to understanding the explanation, regardless of their opinion on it, an order from a Command Staff member of that agency to the member in question to cease their activities with an explanation as to why may be given.
4. If member in question continues to refuse to cease their negligent actions, they may be subject to police arrest, or may be sued in Civil Court.

Evidence of this being presented through the State of San Andreas Supreme Court, (SA:MP), may be found here.

As a result of today's changes, going into effect immediately shall be a grace period of one week where users will be simply warned of their wrongdoing within the ARFD, applicable through steps one through three, but not four. Those who still refuse to cease activities after step three will be logged for future reference. After one week's time, enforcement of step four will begin, without prejudice or bias, and will hold no exception to repeat offenders.

To all firefighters, from ARFD Volunteer up to ARFD Commissioner, regardless of your rank, you have been warned. We will continue to warn you elsewhere as actions arise, but if you repeat them yourself, stricter punishment will arise. This is a time of new beginnings to take on those who think they can bypass the laws...and they will no longer get away with it. See you at the Station boys and girls. We have lives to save.

Respectfully submitted,

General Discussion / Confused about your Station?
March 18, 2013, 03:29:03 PM
Are you a Volunteer Firefighter, ARFD Commissioner, Battalion Chief, Fire Cadet, or Medical Trainee? Confused about what Station you are assigned to? Simple!

With the exception of the first two, your Station in topics and information would be simply listed as whatever the main Fire Department is in the server you play in. For example:

You play in LU? Your Station is FDLC.
You play in MTA:VC? Your Station is FDVC.
You play in VC:MP? Your Station is FDVC.
You play in MTA:SA? Your Station is SAFD.
You play in SA:MP? Your Station is SAFD.
You play in IV:MP? Your Station is FDLC.

But what about the first two ranks, you might ask. Well that one is easy! It's the same thing, except because those ranks are "global", you are in all of the Stations! The one you are discussing at the time is just the one you would use in your information. If you are posting in a global location, simply put all of them!

Some of you might be wondering about the other ranks still, though. What if you are a Volunteer Firefighter in one agency, and ranked in another? Simple. Same thing applies as above. The server you are a Volunteer Firefighter in you can use the general Department for your Station, and the server you are ranked in uses whatever Station you are assigned there!

"But I've still got questions!!!" Well then ask away! :ff:

General Discussion / For those curious...
March 17, 2013, 01:31:16 PM
I get a lot of people asking why the ARFD Commissioner rank is not listed in the Member List topics in each servers' boards. The reason being is that the ARFD Commissioner rank is not specific to any single part of ARFD. It is a global rank, so it is treated a bit differently. For those ever wondering who the current ARFD Commissioner is, you may find their name, and a recent statement from them, under the "Message Corner" section of the main website.

As it had plagued us since SMF 2.0 Gold's release, the annoying "Quick Reply Box Bug" in the Whisper Gray-based themes is finally fixed! From now on, all users should see the Quick Reply Box displaying appropriately on these themes, as per the forum width.

If you are one of the users who still sees it extending off the side of the page, simply do a hard refresh, (Ctrl+F4), until it fixes itself. If you still have issues with it, you may need to clear your browser's cache.

Another one bites the dust!

On a side note: In the process of fixing this bug, I managed to make all of the Whisper Gray-based themes completely SMF 2.0-compatible. For users wondering why this wasn't done previously, the Whisper Gray theme's creator is no longer around, so the theme's information had to be slowly converted over, as per to the changes provided by the SMF development team in a well-hidden forum topic, which is meant for all themes in general. This was not an easy job...especially with the way these themes were created. The main one alone has 15 CSS files, and a number of other files that needed code updates, many of which didn't follow the SMF 2.0 RC2-RC5 format well, which is the version era that the theme was last updated for. There are also 6 modified versions of the main theme used for each servers' boards, which also needed to have the fixes ported over, one at a time. All in all, it took a good amount of time, and a ton of frustration, but it's finally done!

Enjoy!

Dear forum users,

Since it seems people want to continue to misuse abilities, I have limited the maximum signature image size on user signatures to 500x125 pixels on this forum. If your image is larger than this, please resize it. If I find anyone still using a larger signature image than this after this post, I will remove your signature and/or it's image, and leave a message in it's place. Anyone caught bypassing this rule by using multiple images to make their "signature image" larger will receive a forum ban for abusing a forum limitation.

Thank you for your understanding.

News And Announcements / A Warning For All
July 25, 2012, 05:25:59 AM
From this point forward, anyone who thinks it's a good idea to flame, harass, attack, provoke, or otherwise abuse another user...whether they are in a FD on this forum, or are just ARFD Volunteer Firefighters/Medics, will suffer severe punishments for their actions. I am sick and tired of users doing this to each other, and this is not from just one specific incident. Over the last few months, I have received several reports via PM about users doing just this.

This will no longer be tolerated.

If the incidents are severe enough, you may even receive a server or community ban. I am in close contact with all Server Managers, and this will not be put up with should you decide to continue it.

You have been warned...

This new website uses SimplePortal, a SMF modification. It is much easier to use, customize, and utilize to our needs than our previous Joomla installation. It is also fully integrated with the forum! Enjoy!

If you are unable to log in, read up!

Over the last day or so, a failed attack was discovered on this subdomain. After fully investigating the issue, contacting the Server Owners, and notifying the web-hosting service, we have restored the website and forums for users to safely use again. Although your user information appears to be untouched, to be safe we have issued a full password reset to all users. In order to access your account, you need to click the "Forgot your password?" link so you can get a new password or set your own, depending on the options available to you. After your new, secure password is set, you will be able to log back in.

I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, but we take our users' safety serious here, so for your protection, this had to be done. If you have any questions, please contact me, SugarD, on the Argonath RPG Forums.

Thank you for your understanding,

Web Services News & Updates / Advertisements
May 29, 2012, 07:39:51 PM
In case any of you are wondering, the advertisements now displayed here on the forums are here to stay. As Gandalf had requested, the ads were enabled on here in hopes of helping Argonath RPG gaining more money to pay it's bills, even if minimal. For every unpromoted, single click a user makes, Argonath RPG makes a few cents on the dollar that goes into it's account where after a certain amount is gained, the Server Owners can cash it out and put it towards the costs of the community.

Now, as for those who don't like the ads, we have a solution:
Donate!

If everyone donates enough money in a single month to cover that month's costs and those of the next, I am willing to remove these ads for a month at a time...but this is based on you, the users, in order to help our great community prosper! If you wish to get rid of them permanently, then help Gandalf (Ronnel) and Aragorn (RON) pay the bills! :ff:

As for the rest of you who cannot afford donations, and are annoyed by the ads:
You can use browser-based plugins and applications to block the ads. We don't recommend it because every unsolicited click gains the community money, but the option is there for you if you need it that badly.

Lastly, feeling slowed down by the ads? Unfortunately at this time, the ads are slowing things down quite a bit when loading the pages...but the more you browse, the faster it picks up speed. I have already spoken with Gandalf about this and he said he is working on the issue behind the lag to speed things up in the near future so we aren't slowed down by it anymore.

Remember boys and girls, our community is free and it needs it's funding! Help us out! ;)

Oh, and be careful when clicking the ads. We cannot guarantee your safety once you leave this domain. That doesn't mean don't click! It just means be safe. Generally all malicious ads are removed, but from time to time some questionable ones are able to sneak in. If this happens, report the ad to myself or Gandalf, and try to include anything about it you can that could help us identify it.

Have fun! Click, click, click! :ff:

Pictures / ARFD Fire Badges!
April 04, 2012, 02:25:00 AM
Looking for a super awesome Argonath RPG Fire Department badge with your very own name on it? Look no further!

Flamer, one of our members, has decided to start making them out of the kindness of his heart...and I must say, they look good! ;)

Here's the one he made for me:

(And yes, Flamer and I both know that my rank goes beyond just the state of San Andreas, however it was a fun example, and a great gift, so no complaints about it please!)

Want one of these badges too? Just let Flamer know! He's already taking orders for them! :ff:

As some of you may know, I was born in Sacramento, California of the United States Of America. In the County of Sacramento, (where I live), there is a Fire Department agency called "Sac Metro Fire", which was formed several years ago from many local Stations and Departments throughout Sacramento County. In the link posted below, there is an article, along with several videos on the webpage, which shows them providing assistance alongside multiple other Fire-Rescue and Animal Rescue agencies in rescuing a trapped horse, which is completely outside their jurisdiction. It makes me proud to know that not only do our brothers and sisters in the emergency services rescue our fellow humans, but they also come together to rescue our dearly beloved animal friends too! Enjoy this wonderful story!

http://blogs.sacbee.com/crime/archives/2012/03/horse-rescued-after-fall-down-embankment-in-el-dorado-county.html

Thank you Sac Metro Fire, and everyone else involved too!

P.S. For those who are wondering, the City of Sacramento itself has it's own Fire Department agency called the Sacramento Fire Department, (Sac FD), which is not a part of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, (Sac Metro Fire). Sac Metro Fire covers everything in Sacramento County except the City of Sacramento, whereas Sac FD strictly stays within the city limits of Sacramento and does not enter the County of Sacramento.

You heard right! The Argonath RPG Fire Department is keeping an eye out and watching for new users to offer leadership positions to! With the official opening of the IV:MP and MTA:VC lacking members, and LU opening soon, we have decided to shift our focus temporarily towards searching for trustworthy, hardworking, non-rankhunting users who have a strong passion for their work in the ARFD, and are willing to help lead it by example so many more players can enjoy this wonderfully unique roleplay career!

Interested in the job? Shoot me a PM!

Show us what you've been up to lately in the three servers mentioned above and keep working hard! If we choose you, you will be personally trained and prepared for the job of leading the server and implementing some of your awesome ideas to help bring attention to the ARFD and get users roleplaying the jobs! :ff:

Best of luck to everyone, and stay safe out there battling the raging inferno!

Edit: As of January 2nd, 2016, the position with IV:MP FDLC has been filled. VC:MP FDVC and MTA:SA SAFD, however, have now been added to this list.
