General Discussion / Re: Suggestion: Fire Laws

I would suggest codifying all the fire laws that are applicable in all servers into one set of regulations. It would help especially since the Fire Laws Section is quite expansive and a little bit confronting to the newcomer. As well as with the term "Laws" makes the newcomer think that they must obey by them.

Yes, I think this could be a great approach, and perhaps one that will also support those for whom English is not a first language.

The Fire Laws themselves are simply just roleplayed Fire Codes for in-game use by those who want to actually use them, and are completely optional. There is very little in there that is specific to procedures or authority, as most of that is covered by each division and its leadership designs.

Do we need to have a section for them on the forum, or would it be more beneficial to provide a link/redirect to a credible website which has additional information to complement gameplay/RP that is optional?

At the moment the Laws are split up into multiple articles and the physical quantity is significant. It may just seem rather imposing on newcomers!

It might be worth having a central ARFD Academy board, where both the national training and procedures can be posted and the key items for individual states?

General Discussion / Suggestion: Fire Laws
October 15, 2015, 11:20:32 PM
We have an extensive area dedicated to Fire Laws and associated procedures.

Since ARFD's inception, the organisation has been focused on advocating a professional style of roleplay, marrying the 'imagination' part of RP (what fuels the community) with legitimate knowledge from real world sources.

The great thing about this is that it sets a high benchmark.
However, a lot of reading material can also be daunting to players for different reasons; some may just want to get stuck into the game, whilst others could find it more technically challenging as English might not be their first language.

To create a lean, well-rounded ARFD I think we could summarise and create one codified set of guidelines which caters for all audiences.
What do you think?

Do you know how much longer until you have fully returned?

I would say that I am back, as it looks like I am going to be regularly busy with all Argonath projects and real life for the start of 2015.

I will just have to balance things out. It should be a good one.

Thanks for the responses, hope you've had a good beginning to the new year. :)

Have you fully returned?

Hello Sugar,

Yes I am trying to get back to the projects.

In real life finished all but 1 of the exams/assignments. The last 1's going to be long!

Hey Pulse,

I am going to be really sorry to see you around Argonath less if you decide that, but I understand what you mean.
Some people don't recognise the fact that all volunteers also have real life commitments, which in many cases are so important.

I hope you still remain involved, maybe treating this as a hobby. Please don't leave from all things. You are one of the most awesome members that Argonath has, and we truly don't get many people at this level of awesome.

Are you wanting like a Vice City Fire Department seal or a logo like the one above? I can certainly try and work on something when time allows me to do so!

Hey Sky, sorry for not responding any sooner. Been away!

It would be terrific if you were able to design something very much like the original logo above. Unfortunately the detail on the game logo isn't so good and it cannot be resized very easily. :)

IG Name: [WS]Legend
Assigned Station: Vice City Fire Department
Rank: Battalion Chief
Date of leave: 16/08/2014
Date of return: 01/09/2014
Reason: I am going to be away from most ARFD discussions, including the forum, due to a lot of pending work in real life and around Argonath. I'm afraid I have been covering for many people in the last few years and unfortunately, it takes up a lot of time around the clock.

I hope to be back soon.

Signed,

Oh cool. :)

I wish they'd given a picture from directly IG.
I guess we'll have to directly try it out ourselves.
